In our capacity to pro-actively communicate effectively to meet the diverse needs of our teams, how we discern utilizing different strategies and approaches beyond sympathy and empathy to compassionate and persuasive communication is critical to ensure our overall success (no matter who we are in the organization). This session will focus on sharing best practices in different compassionate based communication approaches where we can better anticipate, act and adapt to the challenging situations we face in the workplace.
About the Presenters
- Joanna Iwata is currently the Associated Students senior coordinator for governance and operations at CSU–Monterey Bay. She has served in this role for the past 13 years, where she is responsible for the day-to-day management of Associated Students programs, services, and operations through her advisement of boards, committees, and student employees. Her involvement with ACUI includes being an online Bulletin contributor and leadership webinar moderator.
