Mosaic in Motion: Building Innovative Campus Communities
November 6 – 8 | San José State University
Join us for a transformative three-day regional conference themed Mosaic in Motion: Building Innovative Campus Communities. This theme celebrates the dynamic, interconnected efforts of students, educators, staff, and community partners working together to shape inclusive, creative, and resilient campus environments.
Just like a mosaic, each person and program will bring a distinct piece to the bigger picture. When these pieces are in motion collaborating, innovating, and adapting, they form vibrant and forward-thinking campus communities where everyone can thrive.
This conference will offer inspiring keynote speakers, skill-building sessions, networking opportunities, and a special emerging professional track designed to spark new ideas and strengthen existing efforts across campuses.

OPENING Keynote
Region I is excited to welcome Dr. Pierre Sherrill back to the ACUI stage as our 2025
keynote speaker during our Opening Dinner. My Story Through Fragments draws from Dr. Pierre Sherrill’s chapter Hello From the Otherside in the forthcoming book Shaking the Table: Survival and Healing Amongst Identity Center Practitioners. In this keynote, Dr. Pierre reflects on the journey from stepping into a dream role as an Executive Director to navigating the challenges that left him in pieces. Through resilience and healing, those fragments became the foundation for something stronger and more beautiful. This story invites campus members to see their own experiences as mosaics in motion, where struggle and renewal shape innovative communities.
Dr. A. Pierre Sherrill II, Educator | Coach | Advocate, considers himself an “agent of positive change.” With over fifteen years of experience working with college students and as a non-profit executive, Pierre’s passion to see people engage in their own path towards liberation has charted an exciting journey of constant learning, fun and fulfillment. Pierre is a proud two-time alumnus of California State University, Northridge. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree which focused on the cultures of two underrepresented communities (the Deaf & African American communities) and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership. He most recently obtained his Doctorate in Education from San Diego State University, where he studied the impact of race on Black men’s engagement with campus authority figures.
In 2023, Pierre founded EduLib Consulting; a service company that offers life and professional coaching, training and facilitation, as well as keynote speaking. EduLib Consulting combines Pierre’s love for education with his desire to see everyone personally liberated. For nearly a decade, he has served as an adjunct professor. He has facilitated equity-focused learning at his alma mater, California State University, Northridge, Fresno State, and the University of San Francisco.
He is graced to make critical conversations which surround social justice issues palatable for baseline understanding. He’s been called on as a clinician for conferences, workshops, and corporate trainings to discuss equity and inclusiveness in the workplace across America. Pierre aspires to simply make a difference in the environments he curates space in
