No New Friends: The Desolate Realm of Higher Education/Student Affairs Pre-Tenure Faculty
Writing in the first volume of the year of The Journal of Higher Education Politics & Economics, higher education professors Pietro A. Sasso (Delaware State University), L. J. Shelton (University of Arkansas), and G. Blue Brazleton (Northern Arizona University) share what the landscape looks like for a dozen pre-tenure higher education and student affairs faculty members from as many different campuses. Their findings bring into focus a combination of professional and personal challenges, some unique to gender and ethnicity, that touched on structural barriers, power dynamics, and quality of life.
