Full Course: Building Management Foundations
October 7, 2024 – November 30, 2024 EDT
The purpose of this course is to develop building management skills and knowledge for student and professional building managers in college unions. This course is also eligible for 6 College Unions CE credits for certified professionals. The registration deadline is September 30.
OVERALL OBJECTIVE
Student participants will be able to:
- Outline an emergency preparedness plan for their campus
- Identify best practices for decision making, customer service, and conflict management
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Model inclusivity in their professional lives
- Identify at least one leadership development theory
- Create their own career development action plan
- Recognize the characteristics of collegiate environments and how person-environment interactions affect individual and group development
Professional participants will be able to:
- Recognize the characteristics of collegiate environments and how person-environment interactions affect individual and group development
- Problem solve emergency and risk scenarios
- Identify best practices for decision making, customer service, and conflict management
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Identify solutions to inclusivity climate challenges
- Demonstrate intermediate to advanced leadership skills
- Plan for their career development
