Regional Web and Social Media Content Curator

The web and social media content curator is responsible for assisting in the creation and management of digital content that engages undergraduate and graduate student members.

This position plays a key role in maintaining a dynamic online presence for the region and contributing marketing ideas to boost social media engagement.

This is a regional leading volunteer position, ideal for those interested in determining and advancing strategic directions, governing over long-term goals, representing the association to other members, and setting the tone for member experiences.

This position reports to the communications coordinators and serves a one-year term with the following responsibilities:

Digital Content Creation & Management
  • Assist in developing engaging digital content for regional social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Ensure social media content aligns with ACUI branding and publication guidelines.
  • Work closely with the communications coordinators to enhance visibility and engagement through strategic content planning.
Social Media Strategy & Engagement
  • Contribute marketing ideas to increase social media engagement among student members.
  • Provide a student member perspective to inform content direction and strategy.
  • Monitor and analyze social media trends, proposing innovative approaches for engagement.
  • Assist with scheduling and posting regional updates, event promotions, and other relevant content.
Collaboration & Support
  • Serve as a resource to short-term volunteers assisting with digital marketing efforts.
  • Support the communications coordinators by assisting with general social media-related duties.
  • Provide insight into student interests and communication preferences to better tailor digital outreach.
  • Engage with regional members via social media by responding to comments, messages, and interactions in a professional manner.
General Responsibilities of Regional Leadership Team Members
  • Participate in scheduled Regional Leadership Team meetings throughout the year, including monthly conference calls, a face-to-face meeting at the regional conference, and a second in-person meeting as determined by the team.
  • Act as a resource for the region and campus organizations.
  • Inspire student involvement in regional and ACUI events and opportunities.
  • Develop and submit a proposal for an educational session at the regional conference.
  • Support regional fundraising efforts for scholarships and corporate partnerships.
  • Train and coordinate shadowing opportunities for incoming volunteers in all role-related processes and procedures.
Additional Notes

Direct expenses for conducting Association or regional business (e.g., meetings) are covered by the Association. However, travel expenses and registration fees for conferences and events are expected to be supported by the volunteer’s institution. Given current and potential future travel restrictions, members interested in this volunteer opportunity are encouraged to apply regardless of such limitations.

A screening committee made up of the volunteer team leader, the regional membership experience coordinator, and other related volunteers will review applications, interview candidates, and make recommendations for selections.

At the time of application, individuals must have: employment at a higher education institution; institutional or individual membership; a signed institutional support form; and a commitment to fulfilling the duties of the position for the length of the term. Applicants must also demonstrate an understanding of ACUI’s vision, core values, and core competencies, as well as the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

This regional leading volunteer position require a commitment of one year. Over the course of the term, volunteers should anticipate at least 4 hours of conference call and project work per month, in addition to attending in-person Regional Leadership Team meetings.
