Regional Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator

The outreach & volunteer coordinator is responsible for recruiting, appointing, evaluating, and recognizing volunteers within the region.

This role focuses on engaging non-members and at-risk members, promoting regional involvement, and ensuring a strong and sustainable volunteer network.

This is a regional leading volunteer position, ideal for those interested in determining and advancing strategic directions, governing over long-term goals, representing the association to other members, and setting the tone for member experiences.

This position reports to the membership experience manager and serves a one-year term with the following responsibilities:

Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement
  • Assist the membership experience manager in developing and implementing a structured system for recruiting, appointing, evaluating, and recognizing regional volunteers.
  • Create short-term volunteer opportunities to encourage broader involvement within the region.
  • Conduct outreach initiatives to attract non-members and engage at-risk members, promoting regional opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to ensure messaging and outreach efforts are aligned.
Outreach Support
  • Assist the membership experience manager with conducting outreach to member institutions, students, and professionals to identify opportunities for involvement in regional activities.
  • Promoting regional involvement opportunities via communications such as newsletters, the website, and email.
  • Work closely with the membership experience manager to conduct outreach and recruitment efforts to non-member institutions.
General Responsibilities of Regional Leadership Team Members
  • Participate in scheduled Regional Leadership Team meetings throughout the year, including monthly conference calls, a face-to-face meeting at the regional conference, and a second in-person meeting as determined by the team.
  • Act as a resource for the region and campus organizations.
  • Inspire student involvement in regional and ACUI events and opportunities.
  • Develop and submit a proposal for an educational session at the regional conference.
  • Support regional fundraising efforts for scholarships and corporate partnerships.
  • Train and coordinate shadowing opportunities for incoming volunteers in all role-related processes and procedures.
Additional Notes

Direct expenses for conducting Association or regional business (e.g., meetings) are covered by the Association. However, travel expenses and registration fees for conferences and events are expected to be supported by the volunteer’s institution. Given current and potential future travel restrictions, members interested in this volunteer opportunity are encouraged to apply regardless of such limitations.

A screening committee made up of the volunteer team leader, the regional membership experience coordinator, and other related volunteers will review applications, interview candidates, and make recommendations for selections.

At the time of application, individuals must have: employment at a higher education institution; institutional or individual membership; a signed institutional support form; and a commitment to fulfilling the duties of the position for the length of the term. Applicants must also demonstrate an understanding of ACUI’s vision, core values, and core competencies, as well as the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

This regional leading volunteer position require a commitment of one year. Over the course of the term, volunteers should anticipate at least 4 hours of conference call and project work per month, in addition to attending in-person Regional Leadership Team meetings.
