The educational programs coordinator leads the development, delivery, and evaluation of a comprehensive and balanced program of professional development activities, services, and events for the region.
This position ensures the region provides meaningful and relevant educational opportunities to members, aligning with ACUI’s strategic direction.
This is a regional leading volunteer position, ideal for those interested in determining and advancing strategic directions, governing over long-term goals, representing the association to other members, and setting the tone for member experiences.
This position reports to the community engagement programs manager and serves a two-year term with the following responsibilities:
Educational Program Development & Execution
- Lead the planning and coordination of at least one face-to-face educational event annually, such as drive-in workshops, regional tours, or staff exchanges.
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for regional educational programs in alignment with ACUI’s mission and competencies.
- Work alongside the Regional Conference Planning Team to ensure consistency in educational offerings and delivery methods.
Assessment & Continuous Improvement
- Incorporate competency-based learning outcomes and program assessment into regional educational events.
- Conduct needs assessments of the regional membership to ensure relevant educational content.
- Gather feedback and evaluate regional educational programs to enhance future offerings.
Collaboration & Volunteer Engagement
- Identify, recruit, and select knowledge-based experts and volunteers to present at regional educational activities.
- Collaborate with other Regional Leadership Team members to integrate educational content into various regional initiatives.
- Provide recommendations for topics and speakers for online learning opportunities, working with ACUI’s Online Learning Team as needed.
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Work closely with the business manager to prepare a budget for regional educational programs.
- Submit post-event reports to the Regional Leadership Team, including participation metrics, budget summaries, and evaluation results.
- Support sponsorship and fundraising efforts related to educational initiatives.
ACUI Education Council Liaison
- Ensure regional educational efforts align with the broader educational goals and priorities of ACUI.
- Serve as the primary regional contact for the Education Council, supporting international educational initiatives and attending meetings as requested.
General Responsibilities of Regional Leadership Team Members
- Participate in scheduled Regional Leadership Team meetings throughout the year, including monthly conference calls, a face-to-face meeting at the regional conference, and a second in-person meeting as determined by the team.
- Act as a resource for the region and campus organizations.
- Inspire student involvement in regional and ACUI events and opportunities.
- Develop and submit a proposal for an educational session at the regional conference.
- Support regional fundraising efforts for scholarships and corporate partnerships.
- Train and coordinate shadowing opportunities for incoming volunteers in all role-related processes and procedures.
Additional Notes
Direct expenses for conducting Association or regional business (e.g., meetings) are covered by the Association. However, travel expenses and registration fees for conferences and events are expected to be supported by the volunteer’s institution. Given current and potential future travel restrictions, members interested in this volunteer opportunity are encouraged to apply regardless of such limitations.

A screening committee made up of the volunteer team leader, the regional membership experience coordinator, and other related volunteers will review applications, interview candidates, and make recommendations for selections.

At the time of application, individuals must have: employment at a higher education institution; institutional or individual membership; a signed institutional support form; and a commitment to fulfilling the duties of the position for the length of the term. Applicants must also demonstrate an understanding of ACUI’s vision, core values, and core competencies, as well as the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
This regional leading volunteer position require a commitment of one year. Over the course of the term, volunteers should anticipate at least 4 hours of conference call and project work per month, in addition to attending in-person Regional Leadership Team meetings.
