The purpose of this course is to develop building management skills and knowledge for student and professional building managers in college unions. Note: Building management focuses on the people and activities that occur within the building, including student employees and programs. This is different than facility management, which focuses on the structure and operations of the buildings. This course is also eligible for six College Unions CE credits for certified professionals.
The registration deadline is March 16.
OVERALL OBJECTIVE
Professional participants will be able to:
- Problem solve emergency and risk scenarios
- Identify best practices for decision making, customer service, and conflict management
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Identify solutions to inclusivity climate challenges
- Demonstrate intermediate to advanced leadership skills
- Plan for their career development
- Recognize the characteristics of collegiate environments and how person-environment interactions affect individual and group development
