In 2015, the Okanagan Charter invited colleges and universities to reimagine campus health through a health promotion lens. Ten years later, the Limerick Framework for Action builds on that vision—offering practical, action-oriented strategies for creating healthier planet, places, and people. We will journey through the evolution from Charter to Framework and invite participants to consider how global health-promoting concepts can inspire and translate to action to support student success and community wellbeing in our current U.S. context.
Following this program, you will be able to:
- Describe the evolution from the Okanagan Charter to the Limerick Framework for Action, highlighting the shift from broad commitments to practical, action-oriented strategies;
- Identify how the Limerick Framework’s three pillars—planet, place, and people—relate to U.S. campus environments and wellbeing in higher education; and
- Assess opportunities within their own institutions where global health promotion frameworks could inform local policies, practices, and environments to strengthen student success and community well-being.
Inter-Association Well-Being Collaborative Learning Series
As the Inter-association Well-being Collaborative (IWC) moves from commitment to implementation, we are proud to launch a dynamic webinar series designed to equip higher education professionals and association staff with tools to embed well-being into campus systems and structures.
This multi-part series brings the IWC’s core principles to life: transcending silos, embedding well-being across all roles and functions, and advancing a shared vision for thriving campus communities. Through interactive sessions, real-world examples, and global perspectives, we aim to build capacity, inspire innovation, and foster collaboration across sectors.
