DESCRIPTION:This three-week virtual program is a unique opportunity for mid-senior level higher education professionals to refine their strategic planning and assessment skills within environments of change\, innovation\, and adaptability. Kim’s signature strength includes building relationships and trust with leaders and teams to better understand their needs\, design better outcomes\, and overcome barriers in achieving them. \n\n\n\nKim is the immediate past president for NCCI. She is a certified Prosci change management instructor\, executive coach\, and teaches courses in change management\, culture\, and ethical leadership. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJanuary 29: An Introduction to Equity-Minded Assessment\nYou know you need to level up your assessment\, but you aren’t sure exactly where to begin. This session will provide a refresher on the basics of assessment in higher education so professionals have a solid foundation and understand terminology. Participants will first be introduced to the steps of the assessment cycle and will get to work together to practice writing effective outcomes with feedback provided. Additionally\, when done well\, assessment can help tell a story about your impact and making data-informed decisions\, yet assessment and inclusion are often seen as two separate initiatives. In reality\, good assessment requires equity to be at the forefront and integrated into every step. This session will help you break down what it means to be an equity-minded assessment practitioner (in understandable terms that do not require an advanced degree). \n\n\n\nAbout the Presenter\n\n\n\n\n\nMegan Bell\, Ph.D.\, has over 20 years of experience leading teams and change in higher education. She currently serves as the executive director of the University-Student Union at California State University–Los Angeles and the chair of the Assessment\, Evaluation\, and Research Program Team for ACUI. Prior to her role leading student affairs assessment at California State University–Northridge\, she was a senior-level administrator in student affairs at the University of Colorado–Colorado Springs and has also worked at University of Colorado–Boulder\, Whittier College\, and University of California–Riverside. Throughout her career\, Megan has facilitated learning for teams and organizations on the topics of social justice\, leadership development\, appreciative inquiry\, assessment and evaluation\, communication\, and team engagement. She believes in the power of using individual and organizational strengths to build teams\, identify opportunities for growth\, and effect change. Megan earned a Ph.D. in higher education leadership from Colorado State University\, an Ed.M. from Washington State University\, and a B.A. from the University of Northern Colorado. The session introduces clear\, accessible frameworks for building meaningful measures and spotting common pitfalls in how metrics are designed\, interpreted\, and communicated. Through short\, hands-on exercises and a realistic institutional case study\, participants will practice creating actionable\, strategically aligned metrics. You’ll leave with simple tools\, sharper insight\, and greater confidence in using data to guide decisions and improve organizational performance—while anticipating the change management needs essential for successful implementation. \n\n\n\nAbout the Presenter\n\n\n\n\n\nAngela Song-Ruiter\, Ph.D.\, is an I/O psychologist and organizational transformation strategist with more than two decades of experience in strategic planning\, organizational assessment\, and building meaningful measures of success. Whether she’s enjoying nature\, creating a new recipe\,teaching the youth at church or cheering from the bleachers\, she brings the same energy to her personal life as she does her professional one—intentional and all in. \n\n\n\n\nDr. Andrea Fleming\n\n\nA native of Sumter\, South Carolina\, Dr. Andrea M. Fleming is an educator\, expert trainer\, mentor\, entrepreneur and lifelong learner with 30 years of experience as a clinical mental health counselor specializing in substance use disorders treatment. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPCS)\, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)\, Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC)\, Certified Clinical Supervisor (CS)\, and Master Addictions Counselor (MAC). Along with her extensive background working in community behavioral health settings\, she counseled children and families as a military and family life counselor with the Department of Defense\, and she is also a Leadership Institute alum with Southeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center\, sponsored by the Morehouse School of Medicine\, which identified and mentored emerging leaders in the behavioral health profession. \n\n\n\nIn 2015\, Dr. Fleming was appointed to serve with the South Carolina Clinical Mental Health Counselors Association (SCCMHCA) and served as co-chair of the Supervision Interest Network for the Southern Association of Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES). She currently serves as an appointee on the Certification Commission with the Addictions Professional of South Carolina\, which is responsible for the credentialing of addictions professionals in SouthCarolina. The culmination of these experiences inspired her to launch her consulting business\, The Gold Standard\, LLC\, where she acts as a full-time principal consultant to behavioral and mental health agencies in South Carolina\, providing quality assurance services\, professional development\, policy and accreditation preparation assistance\, and clinical supervision for licensure and certification. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Fleming completed her doctoral studies in the counselor education program at the University of South Carolina and was a fellowship recipient with the Grace Jordan McFadden Professors Program. In the spirit of full-circle moments\, she is a clinical assistant professor in the Counselor Education Program\, and the associate director with the Grace Jordan McFadden Professors Program\, which provides fellowships to doctoral students across disciplines at the university. A vocal advocate and mentor in the behavioral health field\, she focuses on the provision of ethical clinical practice centered around intersectionality\, cultural humility\, congruence in personal and professional development by examining the ‘selfof-the-therapist’\, and parallel processing within the supervisor\, counselor and client relationship dynamic. \n\n\n\nIn addition to her professional engagement\, Dr. Fleming maintains membership with numerous professional associations and service organizations and has a longstanding history of servant leadership in various capacities. She earned both her B.A. in psychology and M.S. in counseling psychology from the university.  \n\n\n\nWith 27 years of experience in higher education\, Wendy has held numerous leadership roles\, including director of minority services\, director of student life\, associate dean of students\, and interim vice president.   \n\n\n\nWendy currently provides strategic oversight for Student Life\, Fraternity & Sorority Life\, the Center for Leadership Development\, and the Bear Essentials Food Pantry. A candid\, humorous presenter\, Wendy has delivered workshops for universities\, businesses\, and state agencies on building community and inclusion\, leadership styles\, customer service\, and poverty and food insecurity.   \n\n\n\nBeyond campus\, Wendy is board president of the Women’s Leadership Network\, a nonprofit devoted to connecting\, empowering and elevating women leaders. She and her husband\, Frank\, live in Conway\, Arkansas\, they have two adult children and one very adored granddaughter.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr. Luoluo Hong\n\n\n The eldest daughter of Taiwanese immigrants\, Luoluo (pronounced “lō-lō”) Hong joined the Georgia Institute of Technology as the inaugural Vice President for Student Engagement & Well-Being on August 1st\, 2021. To this role\, Luoluo brings over 33 years of experience in higher education spanning seven campuses. She came to the Institute from the California State University system where she served for seven years – first as the Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management and Title IX/Title VI Coordinator at San Francisco State University (2014-2019) and then as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management in the System Office (2019-2021).  \n\n\n\nShe was also Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of Hawaiˈi at Hilo from 2008-2014\, where she concurrently took on the role of acting Athletic Director for one and a half years. Luoluo began her career at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge as a health promotion professional (1992-2000). Other senior administrative roles have included Assistant Vice President & Dean of Students at Shepherd College (2000-2002); Dean of Students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2002-2005); and Dean of Student Affairs at the West campus for Arizona State University (2005-2007).  \n\n\n\nAt all but one campus where she has worked\, Luoluo has taught undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses and been an affiliated faculty member in a variety of disciplines\, including Kinesiology\, Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis\, Psychology\, and Criminal Justice & Criminology. Luoluo was also an Associate Professor of Women’s Studies at ASU and earned tenured as an Associate Professor in Public Health Leadership & Education while at UH Hilo. She received an adjunct appointment as Professor of the Practice in the School of Psychology at Georgia Tech in January 2023.  \n\n\n\nLuoluo holds a BA in Psychology from Amherst College\, a Master’s in Public Health from Yale University\, and a PhD in Educational Leadership & Research from LSU in Baton Rouge. A nationally sought-after speaker and trainer in the areas of holistic student success\, leadership\, public health\, and belonging\, Luoluo has delivered over 3\,500 presentations\, keynoted over 95 conferences and meetings\, and authored several book chapters.  \n\n\n\nFormerly a consulting editor for the Journal of American College Health (2000-2008) and recognized as a Fellow by the American College Health Association in 2006\, Luoluo completed a term as chair for the Pacific West Athletic Conference from 2011-2013. Currently\, Luoluo serves as the faculty coordinator for the American College Personnel Association’s Aspiring SSAO Institute; a member of the Women’s Network Executive Council for the American Council on Education; a member of the American College Health Foundation Board; and on the Council on Student Affairs Executive Committee for the Association of Public & Land-Grant Universities.  \n\n\n\nLuoluo is the proud parent of three rambunctious felines: a lilac point Siamese kitten who loves to snuggle\, a highly talkative blue point Siamese\, and a flame point Siamese mix who believes he is a dog.
